The seminar allowed the discovery of two particular items: first, that we constitute an 'army' of academics involved in the search of a better live standard and a culture of peace, and second, the importance that academic work has acquired on those centres dedicated to research on trans-frontier processes. The present essay aims to call the attention on the initiatives made in the US and Mexico, as well as in Peru and Ecuador, in order to exchange knowledge and experiences, elaborate institutional links to improve relation amongst this class of regions.Acabamos de participar en la primera Conferencia Internacional sobre Fronteras Lineae Terrarum que reunió a 350 investigadores, expertos y profesores más prominentes de estudios de la frontera, procedentes de 30 países. Durante cuatro días (del 27 al 28 de marzo), a través de 80 paneles de discusión, fueron tratados temas vinculados a la teoría y la política fronteriza. La actividad permitió descubrir dos temas puntuales: primero, que constituimos un “ejército” de académicos, involucrados en la búsqueda de una mejor calidad de vida y el desarrollo de una cultura de paz transfronteriza; y segundo, el impulso que tiene cada día la creación universitaria de centros y áreas dedicados a los estudios y la investigación de los procesos fronterizos. El presente ensayo persigue, precisamente, llamar la atención sobre la clase de iniciativas que tienen lugar en las fronteras que comparten Estados Unidos y México y en las de Ecuador y Perú, con el fin de motivarles a sumar esfuerzos, a intercambiar conocimientos y experiencias, a crear alianzas institucionales, para que fortalecidos encontremos rápidamente fórmulas que gobiernen adecuadamente la convivencia en esta clase de regiones.Universidad de Piura.
