To collect information on the academic writing of the students, a rubric was elaborated with a segmentation method of differentiated scales between superstructure, macrostructure, microstructure, stylistics and rhetoric, based on Van Dijk's theory. The sample was formed by 74 students from two faculties: 47% psychology students and 53% education. The results on the composition of an academic text indicated the poor writing in the students of both careers, although those of psychology obtained higher scores. In addition, statistical differences were found in the superstructure, microstructure and style of the texts they produced. Finally, it is recommended the need to change the traditional teaching of writing, which is still deficient in Peru and focus on developing levels of thought in the text levels of Van Dijk for the development of efficient academic writing.En esta investigación se realizó un análisis sobre los textos académicos redactados por estudiantes universitarios de educación y psicología de una universidad peruana para así determinar y analizar las diferencias sobre su redacción académica. Para recoger información sobre la redacción académica de los estudiantes, se elaboró una rúbrica con un método de segmentación de escalas diferenciadas entre superestructura, macroestructura, microestructura, estilística y retórica, en base a la teoría de Van Dijk. La muestra se conformó por 74 estudiantes de dos facultades: 47% estudiantes de psicología y 53% de educación. Los resultados sobre la composición de un texto académico indicaron la deficiente redacción en los estudiantes de ambas carreras, aunque los de psicología obtuvieron mayores puntuaciones. Además, se hallaron diferencias estadísticas en la superestructura, microestructura y estilística de los textos que elaboraron.
