The results confirm the existence of this relationship; also, it is found that the Hostile Fearful attachment style presents problems to establish a positive therapeutic alliance. Given these findings the authors discuss the importance that therapists consider the adult attachment style of these men in order to foster therapeutic alliance; also, additional implications are analyzed for future research to improve clinical practice.Pensando en el desarrollo de estrategias que faciliten el establecimiento de una alianza terapéutica positiva, principal predictor del éxito terapéutico en el trabajo con hombres que ejercen violencia contra la pareja (HEVP), el presente estudio busca analizar la existencia de una relación significativa entre los estilos de apego adulto en la intervención psicoterapéutica con los HEVP. Los resultados confirman esta relación, resaltando el estilo de apego temeroso hostil como aquel con mayor dificultad para establecer una alianza terapéutica positiva. Ante estos hallazgos, se discute sobre la necesidad de que el terapeuta valore el estilo de apego del cliente para favorecer la alianza terapéutica.
