Applied instruments were the scale for suicide ideation of Beck (ISB) and the scale of family functioning (family APGAR). Results revealed a significant relationship was found of (p < to 0.05), suicide ideation and family functioning, furthermore this relationship is inverse, so it is concluded that lower family functioning, increased suicidal ideation, and vice versa. Also adolescents in the sample have a medium level of suicidal ideation, and a severe level of family dysfunction, so we also found a significant relationship between the dimensions of attitude towards life and death, characteristics of the thoughts and desires suicide, suicidal intent and family functioning. The linear regression analysis dimensions, adaptation, affection and resources predict suicidal ideation, however significant values are not large-scale. With respect to family functioning and suicidal ideation exists prevalence of female on male.El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo general determinar la relación entre el Funcionamiento Familiar e Ideación Suicida, en una muestra de alumnos de 5to año de educación secundaria del distrito de San Juan de Miraflores. La muestra estuvo conformada por 104 estudiantes de ambos sexos de dos instituciones educativas. Los instrumentos aplicados fueron la Escala de Ideación Suicida de Beck (ISB) y la Escala de Funcionamiento Familiar (APGAR familiar). Los resultados revelaron que se encontró una relación significativa de (p< a 0.05), entre el Funcionamiento familiar y la ideación suicida, además esta relación es inversa, por lo que se concluye que a menor funcionamiento familiar, mayor ideación suicida y viceversa. Además los adolescentes de la muestra presentan un nivel de ideación suicida medio, y un nivel severo de disfunción familiar, así también se encontró que existe una relación significativa entre las dimensiones de Actitud hacia la vida y la muerte, Características de los pensamientos y deseos suicidas, Características del intento suicida y Funcionamiento familiar. En el análisis de la regresión lineal las dimensiones, adaptación, afecto y recursos predicen la Ideación suicida, sin embargo sus valores significativos no son de gran escala.
