Moreover, authors such as José María Arguedas, Aníbal Quijano and, lately, Carlos Franco and Carlos Iván Degregori are committed to the formation of a possible chola, mestizo identity, which they consider modern and democratic, important for the constitution of popular urban identities. .Las ciencias sociales peruanas destacan en las últimas décadas la presencia de una población chola, poseedora de un conjunto de rasgos culturales que intervienen poderosamente en la vida del país, especialmente en Lima. Dicho de otra manera, la población chola tiene comportamientos peculiares en lo político, económico, social y religioso que muestran la existencia de una cultura en cuyo interior anidan valores positivos que serían fundamentales para el desarrollo de la nación peruana.
