Moving from merely Creole historiography to what could be a total image of Peru (recognizable by all) has been one of the concerns of twentieth-century Peruvian historians.Propongo un ensamblaje de textos —una confrontación provocadora de algunos textos— más que un comentario. Por eso se ha limitado en lo posible todo lo que correspondería a una descripción. El análisis que se ofrece está mayormente en las yuxtaposiciones mismas. Primero, sin embargo, habría que comenzar con un preámbulo para situar los materiales.
