When speaking of the development of Andean culture in this century, we must start from this overlap between nature and culture. To begin with, we are going to see the main forms of human action on nature, and their social and cognitive implications, which have emerged mainly in the last four or five millennia of human presence in Andean environments.El concepto de cultura se opone al de naturaleza, y es la relación con el hombre la que los hace diferenciables. Si bien se oponen, ambos conceptos son inseparables, en tanto la cultura resulta ser el conjunto de soluciones que el hombre ha encontrado en su enfrentamiento con la naturaleza y la dominación progresiva sobre ella. Al hablar del desarrollo de la cultura andina en este siglo, hay que partir de esta imbricación entre naturaleza y cultura.
