Such a situation is general and not an exception in social science: One can think of the varied uses of some terms such as "class", "race" or "caste", in American sociological literature. However, we should not leave it aside without having given due importance to some questions that this terminological jungle raises.Un estudio de la literatura de Ciencias Sociales del Perú revela el uso de un buen número de términos étnicos que hacen referencia a varios grupos que forman la población heterogénea del Perú. Un examen más minucioso del uso de estos términos practicado por los científicos sociales (tanto peruano como extranjeros) muestra poco acuerdo en su significado. Tal situación es general y no una excepción en la ciencia social: Se puede pensar en los usos variados de algunos términos como "clase", "raza" o "casta", en la literatura sociológica norteamericana.
