Juan Donoso a Spanish neighbor (vecino) was the head of this successful economic initiative which introduced marine and agriculture products to the colonial market of the Corregimiento of Arica and of the Audiencia of Charcas. The developed of this economic network involved the work of indigenous and slaves, as well as close exchanges between native authoriries (curacas), priests and settlers. The colonial merchant Juan Donoso not only took care for his business, but also of the Andean regional evangelization. This evoke the close relationship between spiritual and material life the early colonial society. This article study historical sources about the post-toledan era emphazising the incorporation of Tarapacá into of Peruvian economic space.Este artículo analiza la empresa colonial de Juan Donoso, vecino español del tenientazgo de Tarapacá en el corregimiento de Arica entre 1618 a 1637. Juan Donoso logró construir una importante red comercial basada en bienes agrícolas y especialmente productos marítimos como pescado y guano, que internaba en los mercados altoperuanos y regionales. Red comercial que demandaba la movilización de esclavos e indios, y múltiples intercambios con curas, colonos y curacas. Como cofrade y sostén de iglesias y ornamentos para el culto, Juan Donoso tambiénrefleja las íntimas conexiones entre lo espiritual y lo material que caracterizaba a la temprana sociedad colonial. Este artículo contribuye a documentar el periodo postoledano de inicios del siglo XVII, una coyuntura poco estudiada en la región, abordando la incorporación de Tarapacá en el espacio económico peruano.
