Physical activity level among state high school teachers in a district of Lima: Nivel de actividad física en docentes de colegios estatales de un distrito de Lima

Lima Objective: Identify the level of physical activity among state high school teachers of Independence district. Matherials and Methods: Cross-sectional study. The population consisted of teachers from three state high school located in the district of Independencia, North of Lima. 103 teachers participated, of which three were excluded because they did not meet the criteria of the study. The instrument used was the short version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). Results: The mean age of the teachers was 46.94 years (SD: 10.23, Min: 21, Max: 74). 55% were men and the remaining fraction were women. The level of physical activity in 58% was moderate, 37% high and 5% low. Conclusions: A high proportion of state high school teachers were physically active. Therefore, the practice of physical activity should be maintained and / or increased as part of healthy lifestyles. Keywords: Physical activity, School Teachers, Peru (Source: MeSH, NLM).
