Results: Odontogenic facial infections in male children (60%) aged between 1 and 4 years (52.22%) occurred more frequently. The infections occurred mainly in posterior teeth (76.67%), and at the upper region of the face (63.33%). The average length of stay in hospital was 4.58 ± 2.27 days. Clindamycin was the more used antibiotic therapy for the treatment of infections (57.78%); and the pulp chamber opening, and tooth drainage (56.67%) were the most performed dental treatments during hospitalization. Conclusion: Odontogenic facial infec-tions were more frequently in male children under 4 years of age. The infections occurred mainly in posterior teeth and at the upper region of the face. Pulp chamber opening and tooth drainage were the most frequent treatments; and Clindamycin was the antibiotic therapy most used.Objetivo: Describir las características y manejo de infecciones faciales odontogénicas en pacientes pediátricos hospitalizados en un hospital de referencia de Cusco, Perú. Material y métodos: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, transversal y retrospectivo, que incluyó un total de 90 historias clínicas de pacientes menores de 15 años que fueron hospitalizados por infecciones odontogénicas, atendidos en el Hospital Nacional Adolfo Guevara Velasco del Cusco durante los años 2011-2016. Resultados: Las infecciones se presentaron con mayor frecuencia en niños del sexo masculino (60%) con edades comprendidas de 1 a 4 años (52.22%). Las infecciones se presentaron mayormente en los dientes posteriores (76.67%) localizándose preferentemente en la región superior de la cara (63.33%). El tiempo promedio de estancia hospitalaria fue de 4.58 ± 2.27 días. La terapia antibiótica más empleada fue la clindamicina (57.78%); y, la apertura cameral y el drenaje del diente afectado (56.67%) fueron los tratamientos odontológicos más realizados durante la hospitalización. Conclusión: Las infecciones faciales odontogénicas se hallaron con mayor frecuencia en niños menores de 4 años, de sexo masculino. Las infecciones se presentaron mayormente en los dientes posteriores, localizados preferentemente en la región superior de la cara.
