The sample was taken in randomized tashion. RESULTS.- We studied 174 patients 16 to 40 year-o1d. Vaginal infection was found in 46,6% patients, including bacterial vaginosis in 27,5%, vaginal candidiasis in 29,3% and trichomoniasis in 5, 1 %, respectively associated infections included bacterial vaginosis with candidiasis in 10,3%. CONCLUSIONS: Vaginal infection is high1y prevalent in our Hospital, similar to findings at other latitudes; we should follow these patients to determine complications.OBJETIVO: Determinar la prevalencia de vaginosis bacteriana en el embarazo y su relacion con otras infecciones vaginales. MATERIAL Y METODOS: El trabajo se realizo en el Hospital Arzobismo Loayza desde noviembre de 1995 a febrero de 1996, en gestantes que acudieron a control prenatal8 primera consulta), sin uso de medicación vaginal y/o sistémica en los últimos 30 días y sin evidencia de patología cerviacal al momento del examen. La muestra se tomo en forma aleatoria. RESULTADOS: Se evaluó 174 pacientes, con edades de 16 a 40 años. Se encontró diagnostico de infección vaginal en 46,6% de pacientes, correspondiendo a vaginosis bacteriana 27,5%, candidiasis vaginal 29,3% y tricomoniasis 5,1%, respectivamente; existiendo infecciones asociadas, principalmente, vaginosis bacteriana y candidiasis en 10.3% de pacientes.
