Who attended the meetings of Population in Tarma, made in June, have had the opportunity to hear that Peruvian demographers have been criticized by professionals from other disciplines, not having given population issues its true dimension, and perhaps not been sufficiently influential to an awareness of population issues.Si bien, dentro de lo que a los participantes a estas Jornadas de Población, pueda interesar, este es sólo un enfoque parcial del llamado problema de la población, resulta también ser condición básica el conocimiento científico de la población del Perú, dentro del contexto netamente demográfico. Es así que cualquier conjunto de medidas tendientes a influir sobre el comportamiento de las variables demográficas, la fecundidad, la mortalidad, la migración, deberá partir de este conocimiento.
