After analysis it is concluded that infertility should be considered a disease of public health interest with a preventive approach.La infertilidad es una enfermedad del sistema reproductivo. En el Perú, esta no se encuentra considerada como una enfermedad importante para el ámbito de la salud pública. En la actualidad los criterios de salud pública del Perú se encuentran desfasados y no logran abarcar el concepto de salud y las enfermedades no trasmisibles, cuyo crecimiento es notable. Por ello, se propone nuevos criterios de salud pública desde un enfoque preventivo y son sometidos a la infertilidad.
