The highest incidence of the disease in pregnant women under 25 years is borne predominantly primigravid, highlighting the importance of prenatal care to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality. EHE is associated with high rates of cesarean section (28.7%) and is an important cause of puerperal morbidity (anemia and infections) with a high rate of maternal mortality (0/000 237).Se presenta un estudio de Cohortes de 418 pacientes con EHE (Enfermedad Hipertensiva del embarazo) atendidas en el Hospital General Base Cayetano Heredia entre Enero 1980 a Junio 1982. Aplicando los parámetros diagnósticos de EHE. 191 (45.7%) tuvieron diagnóstico confirmado y 227 (54 .3 %) diagnóstico clínico o preventivo de enfermedad. Se corrobora la mayor incidencia de la enfermedad en gestantes menores de 25 años a predominio de primigestas, resaltándose la importancia del control prenatal para disminuir la morbi-mortalidad materna.
