All patients must receive calcium and vitamin D. Drug election (either anti resorptive or anabolic) will depend on the patient presenting exclusive vertebral osteoporosis or also non-vertebral osteoporosis, or whether the patient develops clinical vertebral fractures.La osteoporosis es un problema de salud potencial en la etapa posmenopáusica. No solo disminuye la masa ósea, sino también aumenta el riesgo de fracturas, así como la morbimortalidad en estas pacientes. El diagnóstico se realiza mediante la densitometría ósea central (DXA) y su manejo es no farmacológico y mediante diversos medicamentos que actúan, ya sea inhibiendo al osteoclasto (antirresortivos) o estimulando al osteoblasto (anabólicos). Todas las pacientes deben recibir calcio y vitamina D.
