On this basis the authors discuss the value of the routine administration of this type of drug s in the normal puerperium.En 200 mujeres normales en post parto un estudio comparativo de los efectos de ergonovina fue hecho; la mitad de los pacientes fueron controles y no recibió el fármaco; la mitad de ellos recibió 0,2 mg. de maleato de ergonovina i.m. inmediatamente después de la expulsión de la placenta y la cierta cantidad cada 6 horas por vía oral; no se observó diferencia significativa entre ambos grupos ni en la pérdida de sangre, ni en la involución uterina o el tono muscular.
