RESULTS: Maternal age was between 16 and 39 year?old, usual indications included previous cesarean?sections and multiple pregnancies, surgical time was 19 minutes to 1 hour, hemoglobin loss was 3,7 to 0,5 grams, only sutures used were one No 1 chromic catgut and one No 0 monofilament nylon, hospital stay was between 36 and 72 hours and no maternal complication was registered. CONCLUSION.? Pelosi cesarean-section technique is an excellent alternative procedure for operative delivery.OBJETIVO: Determinar las características y morbilidad asociadas a la técnica simplificada de cesárea Pelosi. DISEÑO: Estudio prospectivo, descriptivo, observacional. LUGAR: Servicio de Obstetricia del Departamento de Ginecoobstetricia del Hospital Tumán. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Cuarenta y cinco gestantes fueron intervenidas con el metodo de Pelosi entre octubre de 1999 y noviembre de 2000. Se determinó la edad gestacional, tiempo operatorio, material de sutura utilizado, pérdida sanguínea, morbilidad materna y estancia hospitalaria prostoperatoria.. RESULTADOS: La edad fluctuó entre los 16 y 39 años, las indicaciones fueron las usuales, incluyendo cesáreas anteriores y embarazos múltiples, el tiempo operatorio varió entre 19 minutos y 1 hora, la pérdida de la hemoglobina entre 3,7 y 0,5 g, el material de sutura fue un catgut crónico No 1 y un nylon monofilamento No 0, la estancia postoperatoria entre 36 y 72 horas y no hubo complicación materna.
