In 2013 the World Health Organization released its new guidelines for the prevention of cervical cancer and it considers three options for primary screening: Pap, visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA), and the test for the detection of the human papillomavirus (HPV).Esta sección de la revista tienev como objetivo la revisión de protocolos de manejo de pacientes con resultados positivos al tamizaje o diagnóstico de lesiones del cuello uterino. En los últimos años se han publicado nuevas recomendaciones internacionales, y otras están en proceso de ser anunciadas, lo que puede causar cierto grado de confusión entre la comunidad médica.
