Descripción
Sumario:This paper will address the author’s point of view regarding the need for Peru to develop an ocean foreign policy, which is in accordance with the interests of the State. The path to develop such a policy has been paved by the actions of the Peruvian State throughout its history, highlighting its participation in the creation of the "thesis of the two hundred nautical miles" and in the adoption of the "United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea" (UNCLOS). Although Peru is not a State party to the UNCLOS, it has not ceased to participate in maritime forums or in the new developments on the ocean governance. However, in order to develop an ocean foreign policy, it is vital that Peru accede to the UNCLOS.
