We highlight some reflections on the most visible threats facing democratic regimes, after briefly addressing some fundamental concepts about the notion of democracy and governance.Las expectativas crecientes e insatisfechas, las promesas electorales incumplidas, el desgate de los discursos políticos, la persistente corrupción en diversos grados de la actividad pública y privada, la polarización de los discursos políticos, entre otros factores, han ido mellando la legitimidad de las democracias y han permitido la expansión de discursos intolerantes, autoritarios, así como han cultivado prácticas que tienden a restringir derechos.
