The fact that migration has tripled in volume and complexity due to violence, inequality and poverty, and become an unmanageable global problem, poses the unprecedented challenge of making migration more inclusive in the humanitarian and legal sense. Its very nature should not instill fear nor rejection but understanding and solutions instead. Recognition of the migrant’s rights should be in perfect counterbalance to their recognition of their obligations. To remove repression and xenophobic prejudices would suppose an approach towards internal and international justice.La gran ironía de la migración en el mundo (dejar la tierra natal para instalarse en otra distinta) es que lleva miles de años como alternativa de sobrevivencia de una humanidad en su origen y esencia errante, mientras los gobiernos y estados se ahogan en un vaso de agua pensando en cómo liberarse de ella, al considerarla un modo y medio de vida extraña, marginal y amenazante. El hecho de que, a causa de la violencia, la desigualdad y la pobreza, la migración se haya triplicado en volumen y complejidad y convertido en un problema mundial inmanejable, representa ya de por sí un desafío sin precedentes para hacerla más inclusiva en el sentido humanitario y de legalidad. Su naturaleza no debe infundir temores ni rechazos sino entendimiento y soluciones. El reconocimiento de sus derechos debe estar en perfecto equilibrio con el reconocimiento de sus deberes. Alejar la represión y los prejuicios xenofóbicos de su camino debe suponer aproximarla al cauce pleno de la justicia interna e internacional.
