Sumario:Objective: To determine the factors associated with the non-use of contraceptive methods with the last sexual partner among students of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM). Material and methods: Analytical case-control study with a sample of 160 students from UNMSM, using stratified sampling where each of the five (05) academic areas of the university was considered as a stratum. An online questionnaire was applied to identify socio-cultural, sexual, personal, and psychological factors. The crude association was assessed using Pearson’s Chi-square test and Chi-square test for linear trend (linear-by-linear). Adjustment was performed using Poisson regression. Ethics committee approval was obtained. Results: Among the 160 participants, 56 did not use contraceptive methods with their last sexual partner (36.88%; 95% CI: 29.71–44.67%). The multivariate analysis showed that the risk factors for not using contraceptive methods were the age of students measured in years (PRa: 1.06; p=0.006) and believing that the emergency oral contraceptive (EOC) or “morning-after pill” is a routine contraceptive method (PRa: 1.92; p=0.004). Conclusion: One third of the students did not use a contraceptive method with their last sexual partner, with the risk factors for this phenomenon being student age and believing that EOC is a routine method.
