description Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has shed light on the deficiencies in the healthcare sector. Among them, preconception care was overlooked and not given importance until the evidence of increased maternal deaths and unintended pregnancies emerged. At the same time, we have embraced technological advancements as a way to bridge the gaps. In this regard, the incorporation of technological tools in preconception care is becoming increasingly necessary, and obstetric professionals must actively participate in their evolution. Objective: To develop a mobile application to support obstetric professionals in preconception care in Peru during 2022. Materials and Methods: The Design Thinking method was used, focusing on the needs of obstetric professionals involved in preconception care. A design for a mobile application to support obstetric professionals in preconception care was developed, considering the service component of preconception care outlined in the NTS No. 105-MINSA/DGSP.V (Technical Health Standard for Comprehensive Maternal Health Care). A subsequent usability survey was conducted. Results: A usability survey of the application was carried out to identify its strengths and weaknesses. It was found that 90.0% of the respondents agreed that the application was very easy to use, and 80.0% of the respondents agreed that the functions in the application were well-integrated. Conclusions: The use of the Design Thinking methodology facilitated the development of a mobile application that is easy to understand and navigate for obstetric professionals. By using this application, benefits can be obtained for the optimization of preconception care, including risk prevention, preconception education, and responsible maternity and parenthood.
