This article describes the series of transformations between humans and non-humans in the Wauja cosmology and discusses how the attributes of humanity, animality and monstrosity are distributes and set in relation.Durante mis trabajos de campo entre los indios Wauja del Alto Xingú recogí varios relatos sobre personas de la aldea que se habían transformado en animales mientras estuvieron gravemente enfermos. La mayoría recobró su condición humana gracias a la intervención de chamanes visionario-adivinatorios y de especialistas en rituales.
