The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between pro-sustainability behaviors in families from Cuenca canton with children aged 6 and 7, based on the sociodemographic variables of the parents. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach, with a cross-sectional design and a descriptive-correlational scope. The sample consisted of 511 parents from 13 educational institutions in the canton of Cuenca, selected through stratified two-stage sampling. The Scale of Habits and Values on Environment and Sustainability was used as the research instrument. The results reveal a low level of parental knowledge regarding the concept of sustainability, although the adoption of sustainable habits linked to the 3Rs was observed. It is concluded that the family represents a key agent of change for sustainability, and the implementation of educational programs is proposed to strengthen the role of parents. These findings reinforce the need to promote educational initiatives in the family environment to encourage behaviors aligned with SDG 12.La grave situación ambiental que enfrenta el planeta exige que la familia asuma como prioridad la educación de comportamientos ecológicos en sus hijos, con énfasis en las prácticas de las 3R (reducir, reusar, reciclar), en el marco del ODS 12. El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar la relación entre el comportamiento prosostenibilidad de las familias del cantón Cuenca con hijos e hijas de 6 y 7 años en función de variables sociodemográficas de los progenitores. La investigación se desarrolló bajo un enfoque cuantitativo, de corte transversal y alcance descriptivo-correlacional. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 511 progenitores de 13 instituciones educativas del cantón Cuenca, seleccionadas mediante muestreo bietápico estratificado. Se utilizó como instrumento la Escala de hábitos y valores sobre medioambiente y sostenibilidad. Los resultados evidencian un bajo conocimiento del concepto de sostenibilidad de los padres, aunque se observa la adopción de hábitos sostenibles vinculados a las 3R. Se concluye que la familia representa un agente de cambio fundamental para la sostenibilidad y se propone el uso de programas formativos para fortalecer el rol de los padres. Estos hallazgos refuerzan la necesidad de promover acciones formativas en el ámbito familiar para impulsar comportamientos alineados con el ODS 12.Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
