In his work, the scarring left by the confrontation is revisited in a more humane, nuanced, and, therefore, clearer light. More generally, it invites further reflection on the processes that originated Peruvian society as we know it.En medio de una coyuntura en que el Conflicto armado interno peruano es usado con fines políticos para generar discordia y polarización, se vuelve necesario revisar las fuentes históricas utilizadas para aproximarse a esta etapa. Carta al teniente Shogún es una narración autobiográfica del antropólogo Lurgio Gavilán, que aborda de manera profunda sus vivencias durante el Conflicto armado interno y surge como una fuente para hacer frente a aquella coyuntura problemática, pues antepone una mirada desde la humanidad y la empatía. Se trata de una obra en que la historia es analizada desde la fragilidad de las heridas abiertas.
