This study focuses on the narrative identity construction of a foreign language teacher without formal pedagogical background.Resources, practices and tensions involved in identity work deriving from non-institutionalizaed labor trajectories are analyzed. The study pigeonholes the kinds of discursive resources, ten positioning practices and three sources of tension underpinning one foreign language teacher identity construction.La construcción de la identidad docente describe el modo en que los docentes encuentran sentido a su práctica laboral y adquieren conocimientos relevantes a su ocupación. Convertirse en docente significa construir un tipo particular de identidad cuyo objetivo es encontrar el sentido de coherencia individual que la sociedad le demanda. El estudio explora la construcción narrativa de la identidad de un docente de lengua extranjera sin formación pedagógica de base, aportando información sobre los recursos, prácticas y tensiones del trabajo de identidad que surgen durante las trayectorias laborales no institucionalizadas.
