It explores the construction of national memory promoted from Lima and the memory of captivity in Tacna and Arica. Likewise, it offers a reflection on the relationship between memory and nationalism, as well as on the cultural manifestations associated with it.Este estudio analiza comparativamente cómo se forjó la memoria sobre la guerra del Pacífico en Lima y en las provincias de Tacna y Arica, las “provincias cautivas”, entre 1884 y 1929, de modo que se abarca el periodo de la posguerra hasta la firma del Tratado de Lima (3 de junio de 1929), que puso fin a los asuntos pendientes entre el Perú y Chile.
