description This study examines the commitment of Argentine universities to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through an analysis of their performance in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings (THE-IR). Employing a quantitative, descriptive, and geographically oriented approach, the research compares public and private institutions, identifying priorities and gaps in sustainability integration. The findings reveal a strong institutional emphasis on SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), while environmental and technology-related goals exhibit comparatively low levels of integration. Differences are observed according to institutional type and geographic location, reflecting underlying structural inequalities within the higher education system. The study concludes that ranking performance is influenced not only by sustainability initiatives but also by reporting capacity and thematic specialization. Although progress is evident, more comprehensive institutional strategies and more robust impact measurement mechanisms are required to advance sustainability in Argentine higher education.

Con un enfoque cuantitativo, descriptivo y geográfico, se comparan universidades públicas y privadas, y se identifican prioridades y brechas en sostenibilidad. Los resultados muestran un énfasis en ODS 4 (educación de calidad), ODS 5 (igualdad de género) y ODS 17 (alianzas), mientras que los objetivos ambientales y tecnológicos presentan baja integración. Se observan diferencias según titularidad y ubicación geográfica, reflejando desigualdades estructurales. Se concluye que la posición en el ranking depende de la capacidad de reporte y especialización temática. A pesar de los avances, se requieren estrategias institucionales más integrales y mecanismos de medición del impacto para fortalecer la sostenibilidad en la educación superior.Este estudo analisa o compromisso das universidades argentinas com os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS) por meio do exame de seu desempenho no Times Higher Education Impact Rankings (THE-IR). Adotando uma abordagem quantitativa, descritiva e com recorte geográfico, a pesquisa compara instituições públicas e privadas, identificando prioridades e lacunas na integração da sustentabilidade. Os resultados evidenciam maior ênfase institucional nos ODS 4 (Educação de Qualidade), 5 (Igualdade de Gênero) e 17 (Parcerias para a Implementação dos Objetivos), enquanto os objetivos relacionados às dimensões ambiental e tecnológica apresentam níveis mais baixos de integração. Observam-se diferenças segundo o tipo institucional e a localização geográfica, refletindo desigualdades estruturais no sistema de ensino superior. Conclui-se que tica das instituições.
