description Relationships between technology use in children and parental competencies during the pandemic were assessed. Using a non-experimental correlational design, 101 parents of school-age children participated. A parental competency scale and a technology questionnaire were administered. Parental competence in Shared Leisure was negatively associated with children’s tablet use and adult device checking during playtime. Positive correlations were observed between School Implication and the child’s weekly use of a PC for school tasks and a tablet/smartphone for educational games. Additionally, a negative correlation was found between Dedication and Orientation and leaving the TV on. Lastly, there was a negative correlation between Assumption of Parental Role and the habit of providing children a device when they were busy.

Con un diseño no experimental correlacional participaron 101 madres y padres de escolares. Se administró una escala de competencia parental y otra de tecnologías. La competencia parental Ocio Compartido se asoció negativamente al uso de la tablet por los niños/as y a la revisión del adulto de dispositivos durante el juego con sus hijos/as. También se observaron correlaciones positivas entre Implicancia Escolar y uso de PC para tareas escolares y de tablet/smartphone para juegos educativos. Asimismo, se halló una correlación negativa entre Dedicación y Orientación y dejar la TV encendida. Por último, hubo una correlación negativa entre Asunción del Rol Parental y el hábito de entregarles a sus hijos/as un dispositivo cuando estaban ocupados.Les relations entre l’utilisation de technologies chez les enfants et les compétences parentales ont été évaluées en période de pandémie. Avec une conception corrélationnelle non expérimentale, 101 mères et pères d’écoliers ont participé. Une échelle de compétences parentales et un questionnaire sur les technologies ont été administrés. La compétence parentale en Partage des Loisirs était négativement associée à l’utilisation de la tablette par les enfants et à la vérification des dispositifs par les adultes pendant le jeu avec leurs enfants. Des corrélations positives ont également été observées entre l’Implication Scolaire et l’utilisation du PC pour les devoirs scolaires et de la tablette/smartphone pour les jeux éducatifs. De plus, une corrélation négative a été trouvée entre la Dévotion et l’Orientation et le fait de laisser la télévision allumée. Enfin, il y a eu une corrélation négative entre l’Assumption du Rôle Parental et l’habitude de fournir un dispositif à leurs enfants lorsqu’ils étaient occupés.Foram avaliados os relacionamentos entre o uso de tecnologias em crianças e as competências parentais durante a pandemia. Com um desenho correlacional não experimental, participaram 101 mães e pais de crianças em idade escolar. Foi administrada uma escala de  competência parental e outra de tecnologias. A competência parental em Lazer Compartilhado foi associada negativamente ao uso de tablets pelas crianças e à verificação de dispositivos pelos adultos durante o tempo de brincadeira com seus filhos/as. Também foram observadas correlações positivas entre Envolvimento Escolar e o uso do PC para tarefas escolares e do tablet/smartphone para jogos educativos. Além disso, foi encontrada uma correlação negativa entre Dedicação e Orientação e deixar a TV ligada.
