A non-probabilistic selection process was carried out with 418 subjects from both public and private companies in Mexico City. The results indicate that, by eliminating four out of the 92 items from its original version, the ETCO demonstrates adequate exploratory and confirmatory factorial validity, as well as high reliability. Furthermore, a comparative profile of organizational culture types is presented by type and size of companies and job level, which enables the support of organizational change and development strategies.El objetivo del presente estudio es determinar la validez y confiabilidad de la Escala de Tipos de Cultura Organizacional (ETCO). Para ello se desarrolló un estudio cuantitativo, de tipo no experimental, transversal e instrumental. Se realizó un proceso de selección no probabilístico de 418 sujetos, de empresas públicas y privadas en la Ciudad de México. Los resultados muestran que, eliminando cuatro de los 92 reactivos de su versión original, la ETCO cuenta con adecuada validez factorial exploratoria y confirmatoria, así como una elevada confiabilidad. Además, se presenta el perfil comparativo de los tipos de cultura organizacional, por tipo y tamaño de empresas y nivel de puesto, lo que permite sustentar estrategias de cambio y desarrollo organizacional.O objetivo deste estudo é determinar a validade e confiabilidade da Escala de Tipos de Cultura Organizacional (ETCO). Para isso, foi realizado um estudo quantitativo, não experimental, transversal e instrumental. Foi realizado um processo de seleção não probabilístico com 418 participantes de empresas públicas e privadas na Cidade do México. Os resultados mostram que, ao eliminar quatro dos 92 itens de sua versão original, a ETCO demonstra adequada validade fatorial exploratória e confirmatória, bem como alta confiabilidade.
