Hence, it is possible to expect that the representations of political protest produced from the legal field during this cycle operate in diverse and opposing senses. In order to investigate the understanding of these meanings and to know how they are confronted, a judicial process oriented to the punishment of actions developed in the framework of these protests is examined. This type of analysis is relevant because what is debated in court has an impact on the discussion and definition of the content of the political rights of citizens. The proposed research is a contribution to the socio-legal understanding of protest, a right at the heart of democracyEl derecho constituye un dispositivo que sirve a efectos de naturalizar el orden social existente, es por ello que el ciclo de protestas observadas desde octubre de 2019 en Chile, en tanto se orienta a producir cambios en el orden social, tensiona lo jurídico. De ahí, es posible esperar que las representaciones de la protesta política que se producen desde el campo jurídico durante este ciclo operen en sentidos diversos y contrapuestos. Para indagar en la comprensión de estos significados y conocer cómo se enfrentan, se examina un proceso judicial orientado al castigo de acciones desarrolladas en el marco de las protestas ocurridas en Chile en 2019. El examen de este tipo de antecedentes resulta relevante por cuanto lo que se debate en sede judicial incide en la discusión y definición del contenido de los derechos políticos de la ciudadanía, más allá de lo estrictamente judicial.
