However, the article concludes by pointing out that lawyers have a role of social control, through which they can redirect, or not, the expectations of clients and the social interest in accordance with the law.El presente trabajo analiza la profesión del abogado a través de un enfoque sociológico y a partir de distintas investigaciones que se realizaron al respecto. De esta manera, el autor aborda temas relacionados a la descripción, organización y división de la profesión, la moral, los ingresos profesionales de los abogados, el poder económico de los clientes, la posición dentro de la profesión, entre otros aspectos.
