The purpose of this article is to show that for Thomas Aquinas, existence, like essence, can be the object of conceptualization nd functions as a real predicate. To that end, I base myself on Aquinas’ theory of signification.Una de las tesis atribuidas a Tomás de Aquino es que la existencia, a diferencia de la esencia, no puede ser objeto de conceptualización. Al carecer de un concepto de existencia, Tomás se acercaría a la interpretación moderna de proposiciones existenciales, según la cual la proposición ‘P existe’ no atribuye ninguna propiedad a P. El propósito de este artículo es mostrar que para Tomás de Aquino la existencia, al igual que la esencia, es objeto de conceptualización y un predicado real.
