As a result, eight naming strategies are proposed for Urarina animal nomenclature, and the relationship between these strategies and the formation of simple and complex lexemes is discussed. The paper contributes not only to the documentation and description of an Amazonian isolate, but also to the comparison, both typological and areal, with other languages of the region.Este artículo presenta por primera vez un estudio detallado de la nomenclatura etnozoológica del urarina, una lengua amazónica aislada hablada en Loreto, Perú. Se describen y analizan las principales estrategias lingüísticas que emplea la lengua en la nominación de animales a partir del análisis de una base de datos léxica de más de 250 entradas con nombres de animales recogidos en trabajo de campo. Como resultado, se proponen ocho estrategias distintas en la nominación de animales en urarina, así como diferentes correlatos entre estas y la formación de lexemas simples y complejos.
