This innovation aims to lighten the procedural bur-den of the criminal courts of the 35 Superior Courts of Justice of the country and, thereby, restore the confidence of judicial users in the Judiciary.Este artículo reflexiona, desde una perspectiva constitucional y procesal, sobre la propuesta del Dr. Duberlí Rodríguez Tineo (2018) respecto a una reforma para que se les otorgue competencia penal a los jueces civiles, de modo que, en el mismo juzgado, den trámite al proceso civil, establezcan la pensión y estén facultados para abrir el proceso penal a los padres que incumplan su obligación económica.
