Some distortions of the term are described and explained,such as Primary care, Selective Primary health care and Basic Healthcare. Finally, some proposals are postulated to implement it in health facilities in urban areas, including an application case.Se reseña la definición de la Atención Primaria de Salud, entendida como la atención esencial en salud basada enmétodos y tecnologías prácticas, científicamente bien soportadas y aceptables socialmente, accesible a los individuos y las familias en la comunidad, a través de su plena participación y a un costo que la comunidad y el país puedan asumir para mantenerla, parte integral del sistema de salud de un país, así como del desarrollo económico y social de la comunidad, acercando la atención en salud, tanto como sea posible, al lugar donde la gente vive y trabaja y constituyéndose en el primer elemento de un proceso continuo de salud. Se describen y deslindan algunas distorsiones del término, tales como la atención en el Primer Nivel, la Atención Primaria Selectiva y la Atención Primaria Primitiva/Salud Básica.
