In this century, Peru has been the scene of various cases of corruption that have involved national elites from different social strata such as politics, business, justice, military and police. From a systemic perspective, the impact of corruption on the democratic political system can be modeled from an iterative process of certain interrelated key components inherent to democracy, such as: institutionality, governability, and public policies understood as mechanisms available to governments to achieve national development whose objectives are set in the Strategic Plan for National Development to 2050. The assessment of these key components, through internationally validated qualitative instruments, allows us to corroborate that corruption in Peru continues to be the main factor that has generated the decline of these components, seriously hindering national development and thereby fostering a systemic crisis and the questioning of democracy.La corrupción debilita la institucionalidad, y con ello, no solo se favorece el desorden social y se erosiona la confianza pública, sino que también limita el desarrollo nacional, de ahí que sus efectos socavan los pilares de la democracia. En el presente siglo, el Perú ha sido escenario de diversos casos de corrupción que han involucrado a las élites nacionales de distintos estratos sociales como el político, empresarial, judicial, militar y policial. Desde una perspectiva sistémica, el impacto de la corrupción en el sistema político democrático, se puede modelar a partir de un proceso iterativo de ciertos componentes clave interrelacionados e inherentes a la democracia, como son: la institucionalidad, la gobernabilidad, y las políticas públicas entendidas como mecanismos que disponen los gobiernos para lograr el desarrollo nacional cuyos objetivos están fijados en el Plan Estratégico de Desarrollo Nacional al 2050.
