However, the narrator of two thirds of the novel is Juan García Madero, a young 17-year-old poet who is the one who narrates in his personal diary the adventures lived alongside those who he considers his life teachers and who initiate him on the path of poetry by making him part of a group of poets with similar sensibilities. This article intends to review the importance of this character for the articulation of the plot and the novelistic fiction that autobiography and autofiction entails.Una parte significativa de los estudios centrados en la novela de Roberto Bolaño (1953-2003), Los detectives salvajes, enfoca su atención sobre todo en los personajes principales de la novela: Arturo Belano y Ulises Lima, transfiguración literaria del propio autor y del poeta mexicano Mario Santiago Papasquiaro, según la crítica al respecto. Sin embargo, el narrador de dos terceras partes de la novela es Juan García Madero, un joven poeta de 17 años que es quien narra en su diario personal las aventuras vividas al lado de quienes considera sus maestros de vida y que lo inician en el camino de la poesía al hacerlo formar parte de un grupo de poetas con sensibilidades afines.
