In this narrative there are two determining structural elements: the woman and the urgency of a historiographic change, which cannot come from a traditional education. But it is also evident that the sadness of Mexicans originates from an inadequate modern education that instead of cheering and uniting Mexicans divides them and plunges them into poverty. In vulgar history, there is a plausible one that corresponds to the Porfirian society of the second half of the nineteenth century, but that has much meaning today.En el presente artículo se analiza la obra Historia vulgar, de Rafael Delgado, a la luz de las ideas de Mílada Bazant, para demostrar que su realismo es eficaz al explicar la superación del conflicto entre los modelos educativos tradicional y moderno; mediante la participación de las mujeres en la educación y el recurso a las virtudes humanas. En dicha narración hay dos elementos estructurales determinantes: la mujer y la urgencia de un cambio historiográfico, que no puede provenir de una educación tradicional. Pero también se evidencia que la tristeza de los mexicanos se origina en una educación moderna inadecuada que, en lugar de alegrar y unir a los mexicanos, los divide y sume en la pobreza.
