Esta investigación analiza la representación de la violencia contra la mujer en la telenovela peruana Valiente Amor, realizada por Del Barrio Producciones y emitida por América Televisión en el 2016. La metodología empleada es de carácter mixto, con herramientas cuantitativas y cualitativas. El análisis considera los ochenta capítulos, se realiza desde perspectiva de la narración audiovisual con énfasis en el desarrollo dramático y construcción de personajes, teniendo en cuenta un enfoque de género que permite entender las relaciones de poder en la que se presentan los casos de violencia. Los resultados demuestran que existen similitudes en tendencias, cifras y contextos entre la violencia representada y la realidad peruana. El relato construye un universo ficcional machista y heteropatriarcal en el que la mayoría de los personajes femeninos son víctimas de algún tipo de violencia de género y esto se complejiza al cruzarse con otras problemáticas sociales como la corrupción y el racismo. Finalmente, Valiente Amor visibiliza y denuncia la violencia contra la mujer, principalmente, en el ámbito privado y logra algunas rupturas con el melodrama clásico que enriquecen el relato, pero minimiza y normaliza algunas situaciones al intentar redimir personajes agresores y justificar algunas agresiones.

In Peru, violence against women is one of the most concerning problems. In 2022, according to CEM records, 130 women were victims of feminicide. This research analyzes the representation of violence against women in the Peruvian soap opera Valiente Amor, made by Del Barrio Producciones and broadcast by América Televisión in 2016. The methodology used is mixed, with quantitative and qualitative tools. The analysis considers all the eighty chapters, it is realized from the perspective of an audiovisual narration with emphasis on the dramatic development and construction of characters, taking into account a gender approach that allows us to understand the relations of power in which cases of violence are presented. The results show that there are similarities in trends, figures and contexts between the violence represented and the Peruvian reality. The story builds a sexism and heteropatriarchal fictional universe in which most of the female characters are victims of some type of gender violence and this turns more complex when it intersects with other social problems such as corruption and racism.
