Es así que se encontró que Cayma es importante para la región Arequipa principalmente por su desarrollo inmobiliario y comercial. Posee atributos para convertirse en un importante clúster comercial, incorporando servicios financieros y de logística, al ser sede de dos grandes centros comerciales y otra serie de tiendas y oficinas bancarias. Esto también sirve de apoyo para el desarrollo del sector construcción, lo que debe ir acompañado de servicios básicos, de salud y educación. Pero se requiere de un esfuerzo conjunto, entre sector público y privado, para frenar la inmigración desordenada que se está estableciendo en asentamientos humanos. Los objetivos propuestos en este plan estratégico están enfocados al desarrollo inmobiliario, del comercio y también del turismo, aprovechando los visitantes que la región Arequipa ofrece, con miras a mejorar la calidad de vida de todos los pobladores, incrementando sus ingresos y el acceso a los servicios básicos. Para ello se debe mejorar la infraestructura vial y formalizar totalmente el servicio de transporte público; al mismo tiempo que se desarrolla infraestructura turística, compuesta principalmente por hoteles y restaurantes. El rol de la municipalidad distrital es impulsar el desarrollo, mediante la agilización de los trámites, a través del uso de las tecnologías de información y comunicación

Information was collected on the current situation of the district, making a deep internal analysis to identify the main economic sectors and their potentialities. This is how it was found that Cayma is important for the Arequipa region due to its real estate and commercial development, mainly.
