Para tal fin, la metodología es cualitativa y de alcance exploratorio porque existen pocos estudios nacionales que aborden el tema de las filmotecas. Por tanto, se aplica la técnica de entrevista a profundidad a los miembros de la Filmoteca PUCP como a especialistas interesados en la salvaguarda de la memoria audiovisual del país. Además, se revisará la documentación accesible sobre el acervo audiovisual que custodia la filmoteca. Luego de un análisis de los resultados se concluye que, la Filmoteca PUCP cubriría un vacío existente en la preservación del patrimonio audiovisual peruano, pero aún no es suficiente; por esta razón, considero que debe ser tomado como un punto de partida para la creación de una Cinemateca Nacional en el Perú.

To this end, the methodology employed is qualitative and exploratory in scope, as there are few national studies addressing the topic of film archives. Therefore, in-depth interviews are conducted with members of the Filmoteca PUCP, as well as specialists interested in safeguarding the country's audiovisual memory. In addition, accessible documentation on the audiovisual collection held by the film archive will be reviewed.
