Proviene de la forma en la que trabajan los diseñadores de producto. De ahí su nombre, que en español se traduce de forma literal como "Pensamiento de Diseño". En primer lugar, el Design Thinking se centra en la cultura del prototipo y el testeo, donde el objeto de la innovación es generar soluciones en salud con el objetivo de obtener retroalimentación del usuario e incorporar mejoras a la solución planteada. Utiliza la empatía como eje conductor del modelo para comprender a los usuarios en salud y busca experimentar dichos cambios dentro de su propio entorno.
