This article of an introductory nature for the student of administration reviews the evolution of administrative knowledge using concepts of philosophy and history of science. Difference the practice of administrative knowledge and explains how the second has been built and delimited since the advent of modern society and capitalism. Then it deals with the conceptual complex and varied foundations that help to build such knowledge. The authors propose the following: economic religious-cultural and socio-psychological emphasizing how they contribute to structuring historically and conceptually administrative knowledge.
