The authors also want to thank their home universities for their support.This paper studies the use of two activated carbon samples made of cocoa pod husk (CPH-AC) and one commercial activated carbon sample in the adsorption of As(V), Cd(II) and Pb(II) from multicomponent synthetic solutions and from the Puyango-Tumbes River water, a river located in northwest Peru. The characterization of the activated carbon samples was conducted. The CPH-AC samples exhibited a specific surface area (SBET) between 709 and 1117 m2/g and a pH point of zero charge (pHPZC) between 4.4 ± 0.2 and 5 ± 0.2, while the commercial material gave an SBET value of 775 m2/g and a pHPZC value of 7.6 ± 0.1. All the evaluated samples displayed the capacity to adsorb As(V), Cd(II) and Pb(II) from both aqueous systems. The adsorption efficiency for Pb was outstanding reaching the value of 89%. A pseudo-second order kinetic model was satisfactorily applied for most of the activated carbon samples.Consejo Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Tecnológica - ConcytecengWater Environment Federationinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAgriculturahttps://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#4.01.01-1Adsorption of as(V), Cd(II) and Pb(II), in multicomponent aqueous systems using activated carbonsinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlereponame:CONCYTEC-Institucionalinstname:Consejo Nacional de Ciencia Tecnología e Innovacióninstacron:CONCYTEC20.500.12390/918oai:repositorio.concytec.gob.pe:20.500.12390/9182024-05-30 15:59:48.217http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cbinfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessmetadata only accesshttps://repositorio.concytec.gob.peRepositorio Institucional CONCYTECrepositorio@concytec.gob.pe#PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE#<Publication xmlns="https://www.openaire.eu/cerif-profile/1.1/" id="53458186-afa9-49eb-b435-0cbc66e990b3"> <Type xmlns="https://www.openaire.eu/cerif-profile/vocab/COAR_Publication_Types">http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_1843</Type> <Language>eng</Language> <Title>Adsorption of as(V), Cd(II) and Pb(II), in multicomponent aqueous systems using activated carbons</Title> <PublishedIn> <Publication> </Publication> </PublishedIn> <PublicationDate>2017</PublicationDate> <DOI>https://doi.org/10.2175/106143017X14902968254412</DOI> <SCP-Number>2-s2.0-85028772468</SCP-Number> <Authors> <Author> <DisplayName>Pirila M.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp02420" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Cruz G.J.F.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp01001" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Ainassaari K.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp01921" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Gomez M.M.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp00998" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Matejova L.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp02016" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Keiski R.L.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp01000" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> </Authors> <Editors> </Editors> <Publishers> <Publisher> <DisplayName>Water Environment Federation</DisplayName> <OrgUnit /> </Publisher> </Publishers> <Keyword>Agricultura</Keyword>
This paper studies the use of two activated carbon samples made of cocoa pod husk (CPH-AC) and one commercial activated carbon sample in the adsorption of As(V), Cd(II) and Pb(II) from multicomponent synthetic solutions and from the Puyango-Tumbes River water, a river located in northwest Peru.
