Beyond the principle of dignity of the person

This essay explores the notions of dignity on the principle that Carlos Santiago Nino proposes against normative, physical and psychic determinism; it es complemented by two sub-principles proposed by Ronald Dworkin and analyzed in light of other notions of dignity briught about by various schools. In the development of this essay, the philosophical foundations of dignity and its problems with the law are also observed, while trying to make the mentioned authors dialogue on such abd intricate subject. Finally, dignity is related to human rights, and since its acceptance (or positivization) is widespread in the constitutional texts of various countries, its lack of effectiveness is analyzed and consequentialism is invoked to observe its political problems to the detriment of its legal achievements.
