Cancer of the cervix is capable of being detected by cytology, which is critical because it allows the detection of the disease in early stays and even premalignant phase which affects a high percentage of cures, cures that are real and not just a temporary freeze tumor. It is important to change attitudes to cancer and should disseminate the fact that cancer is curable. The micro-invasive cancer is the treatment of choice in our institution radical hysterectomy without lymphadenectomy for reasons of better diagnosis and preservation of ovarian function but radiation therapy as Radium uterovaginal application has its indications and radiobiological base and results in cure as good as surgery that support them.
En Cáncer del cuello uterino es susceptible de ser detectado por medio de la citología, lo cual es fundamental pues permite al detección de la enfermedad en estadías tempranos e incluso en fase premaligna lo cual incide en un alto porcentaje de curaciones, curaciones que son reales y no solamente una congelación tumoral temporal. Es importante un cambio de actitud frente al Cáncer y se debe difundir el hecho de que el Cáncer es curable. El Cáncer micro invasivo tiene como tratamiento de elección en nuestra institución la histerectomía radical sin linfadenectomía por razones de mejor diagnóstico y conservación de la función ovárica pero la radioterapia en forma de aplicación de Radium útero vaginal tiene sus indicaciones y una base radiobiológica y resultados en curación tan buenos como la cirugía que los sustentan.
