New definition of high blood pressure. Are we ready?

The new Guide for the Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Management of Arterial Hypertension in Adults of the ACC / AHA (American College of Cardiology / American Heart Association), published on November 13, 2017, has reclassified the degrees of hypertension arterial (table 1). This guide is an update of the publication of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute "Seventh Report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of Arterial Hypertension" (NHLB, JNC 7) of the year 2003 (1).
La nueva Guía para la Prevención, Detección, Evaluación y Manejo de la Hipertensión Arterial en Adultos de la ACC/AHA (Colegio Americano de Cardiología/Asociación Americana del Corazón), publicada el 13 de noviembre del 2017, ha reclasificado los grados de la hipertensión arterial (tabla 1). Esta guía es una actualización de la publicación del Instituto Nacional del Corazón, Pulmón y Sangre “Séptimo Reporte del Comité Nacional Conjunto sobre Prevención, Detección, Evaluación y Tratamiento de Hipertensión Arterial” (NHLB, JNC 7) del año 2003(1).
